VIRS 9th Community Fund Fundraiser
REMINDER: The Vermont Interpreter Referral Service’s 9th Annual Fundraiser for the Yolande Henry Community Fund is coming up:
Sat. May 3rd from 3-6pm in the gym at the Austine School for the Deaf in Brattleboro.
Our acclaimed performer is Warren Snipe – known as WaWa – who is the inventor of “Dip Hop,” which is Deaf Hip Hop !
Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children 12-5; children 4 and under are free.
Raffle tickets will be on sale for CASH PRIZES; desserts and non-alcoholic beverages will also be on sale.

Empower People with Disabilities: It’s Only Right(s)
Keynote Presentation by Chester A. Finn
A Special Assistant in the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, Chester is the co-founder of the Community Empowerment Programs Inc., which provides community services and educational programming for people with disabilities.
Disability Awareness Day at a Glance
9 to 10 – VCDR will be serving coffee and pastries in Room 10. Come register, grab a cup of joe, connect with your peers and plan your day.
9:30 to 4 – Attend workshops to get updates and talking points from VCDR members on hot topics.
11 – Attend a press conference in the Cedar Creek room about employment for people with disabilities.
Noon – Make an appointment to have lunch with your legislator. Pizza will be served in Room 10 from 1 to 2 p.m.
1 -Disability Awareness Day will be announced on the House floor.
4:30 to 6:30 – VCDR will be serving appetizers in the cafeteria. Keynote and panel discussion about empowering people with disabilities.
